How do I fly to Padang?

You must transit in Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur. Jakarta is the recommended option due to the high number of daily flights and better reliability. Garuda Airlines is recommended and does not charge for surfboards.

From Kuala Lumpur there are only two daily flights with Air Asia, which may require an overnight stay.

No later than 4 pm on departure day. Immigration, baggage collection and transfer to harbour require time.

Yes. Airport transfer is included. Please send your flight details in advance.

Yes. Hotels and guesthouses are affordable. We can assist with bookings.

Flights after 4 pm are possible, but we recommend departing the following day to avoid any risk of delays.

Yes, in many areas, but not continuously. Usually no more than two days without reception.

Sometimes. Best option is buying a local SIM card with data in Padang. Coverage can be limited in remote areas.

SURF & CONDITIONS

April to October is prime season. March and November can also offer good surf with fewer crowds.

Mentawai, Telo, Nias, Hinako and Banyak combine consistent Indian Ocean swells with lighter winds and fewer crowds.

No. There are waves for all levels from intermediate to advanced. Average size is 3–6 feet.

If you can catch waves independently, you are ready. Absolute beginners are not recommended.

Some specific areas can be crowded, but most zones remain uncrowded due to limited access.

Yes. We operate in Telo, Nias, Hinako, Banyak and can combine regions. Additional fuel charges may apply for longer distances.

Guests decide based on the surf guide’s recommendations regarding swell, wind and tides.

BOAT & TRIP STRUCTURE

Safety, size and guide quality are key. Larger boats with twin engines are generally safer and more comfortable.

No strict minimum. 8–10 guests recommended for balanced pricing. Maximum usually 10–12.

Yes. Standard is 10 days. Recommended 8–12 days.

Early surf at sunrise, multiple sessions, meals onboard, repositioning at sunset, relaxed evenings and early nights.

FOOD & DRINK

Two breakfasts daily, hot lunches and dinners including fish, meat, rice, pasta and Indonesian dishes. Snacks available all day.

Yes. 30 beers per guest included. Extra beer available onboard. Spirits should be purchased duty-free before arrival.

We provide first aid onboard and coordinate evacuation to hospitals if necessary. Modern hospitals available in Padang, Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
